The WCRC responds to God’s call to foster justice so that all may live life abundantly.
The WCRC believes all are called to resist what the Accra Confession calls Empire: the overarching system under which we live.
The WCRC strives to form communities of full and just participation that are resilient against and are able to resist violence, racism, nationalism, authoritarianism, and militarism.
We believe in God, who calls us as partners in the creation and redemption of the world. We live under the promise that Jesus Christ came so that all might have life in fullness.
We confess our part in the injustices of the world. We rejoice that we are led on this journey by the God of justice, and we believe that we are called to work with God in creating a different world — a world of peace, of justice, and of harmony with creation.
We believe that God calls us to stand with those who are victims of injustice. We know what the Lord requires of us: to do justice, love kindness, and walk in God’s way. We do this critical work with our member churches, regional councils, and ecumenical partners.
The current climate crisis is the outcome of a global economic system that has placed profit over life. God calls us to care for all of creation and to equitably share the earth’s resources.
Gender justice includes just and right relationships, mutual respect and accountability, and the rights of all people to live life in all its fullness. The WCRC gender equality program serves to enable churches to work for the transformation of gender relations and partnerships.
A just economy is essential to the integrity of the Christian faith. A challenge for Christians is how to live faithfully in these times of economic injustice.
